[Photo] Fossilized dinosaur footprint in S. Chungcheong Province becomes cultural heritage site

A fossilized footprint of a dinosaur in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province, has been deemed a cultural heritage site. Scholars have determined the footprint was made by an ornithopod or a sauropod during the Mesozoic Era, an interval of geologic time about 252 to 66 million years ago. As the footprint is the only one to have been discovered in the region, it supports the hypothesis that the area was a dinosaur habitat. The footprint was discovered in 2015 by a middle school teacher who was fishing in the area. (provided by the South Chungcheong Provincial Office)
