[Photo] Former first lady Lee Hee-ho in critical condition

Lee Hee-ho, 97, former first lady and wife of late President Kim Dae-jung, is in critical condition at Severance Hospital in Seoul. She is currently battling liver cancer and is unconscious. Lee’s husband Kim Dae-jung promoted the Sunshine Policy of 2009, which advocated inter-Korean reconciliation and peace. On June 9, Park Ji-won, lawmaker with the Democratic Party, wrote on his Facebook feed that Lee has been fighting disease for a long time, and that doctors are monitoring her condition. The photo shows Lee during a commemoration ceremony on the ninth anniversary of Kim’s death on Aug. 18, 2018.
