Irregular workers in South Korea’s public sector have mobilized against what they deem unfair treatment and unjust labor policies. A nationwide network of irregular workers in the public sector, organized under the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, mobilized in Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square on July 3. Over 53,000 people attended the rally declared a three-day strike, demanding the legal abolishment of policies that categorize workers as “irregular” and lambasting the Moon administration for failing to live up to its campaign promises regarding labor rights.
