[Photo] Gwangju tries out automated recyclable waste collectors

Gwangju’s Seo District has begun a probationary operation of automated collectors for recyclable waste, including plastic bottles and aluminum cans. The machines were developed by a South Korean startup called SuperBin using AI technology. AI sensors differentiate between different types of recyclables and compress them accordingly before storing them. Citizens who use the machines can accumulate points that can later be converted to cash. (provided by Seo District)
