The Hankyoreh held a contest for the “prettiest postcard” at Seoul’s Cheonggye Plaza on Oct. 9, South Korea’s Hangul Day, a national holiday that celebrates the birth of the Korean alphabet. Postcards must be drawn by hand, using no computer graphics, and celebrate Hangul in some way in order to be accepted as submissions. With sponsorship from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Hankyoreh has held the annual contest since 2013. (Baek So-ah, staff photographer)
