To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Korean Provisional Government (KPG), North Chungcheong Province will be erecting statues of eight key KPG figures at Cheongnamdae, a former presidential villa, it announced on Oct. 23. The provincial office will also be building an educational center focusing on the history of the KPG. The statues were partially built by sculptor Lee Seong-do, who built the statue of King Sejong the Great in Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square. The eight statues are expected to be erected by April 2020.
