114 members of the Samjiyon musical performance group and support staff disembarked from the Mangyongbong-92 cruise ship at Mukho Port in Donghae, Gangwon Province on Feb. 7. The ship had arrived the previous day after beginning its journey at Wonsan, North Korea, but the group members had stayed overnight on the boat to rest. After disembarking, the group headed to the Gangneung Art Center to set up their equipment and review the facilities prior to their opening show.
The Samjiyon group is scheduled to give a performance at the Gangneung Art Center on Feb. 8 in support of a successful Pyeongchang Olympics and Paralympics. They will also be performing in Seoul at the National Theatre on Feb. 11. The group is led by Hyon Song-wol, who became a media sensation in South Korea when she visited the country for a preliminary review of the performance venues last month. (Photo Pool)
