On Apr. 24, the Blue House publicly displayed the dinner menu for the inter-Korean summit that will take place between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un later this week. The menu will feature foods with personal significance to the two leaders, including a Swiss potato pancake (Kim attended a boarding school in Switzerland as a youth), and Busan grilled chicken, honoring President Moon’s hometown.
There are also items paying tribute to past summits, including a croaker and sea cucumber dish from former president Kim Dae-jung’s hometown of Sinan, South Jeolla Province, and organic rice from Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province, which was the hometown of former president Roh Moo-hyun. For dessert, the summit participants will dine on a cake decorated with flowers and a design of the Korean Peninsula. They will use a small hammer to break a hard shell symbolizing the ground frozen by a cold winter, revealing the cake inside. The idea of the cake was, “The People’s Spring.” (provided by Blue House)
