North Korea announced that it will stop using its exclusive time zone “Pyongyang Time,” or Standard Time of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and adopt the time zone used in Seoul from May 5. North Korea adopted its own time zone on August 15, 2015, in a move to break from the “imperialism” of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the primary time system used around the world. During the Inter-Korean Summit on Apr. 27, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un commented that the difference between “Seoul Time” and “Pyongyang Time” broke his heart, and suggested that the two Koreas adopt the same clock.
