The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office announced on May 15 that they will start investigations for a case in which National Intelligence Service (NIS) agents under the Park Geun-hye Administration are suspected of orchestrating the defection of 13 North Koreans from China to Seoul to sway the 2016 parliamentary elections. Members of MINBYUN-Lawyers for a Democratic Society and a group of North Koreans who were made to defect to South Korea against their will hold a press conference on May 14 in front of the Blue House in Seoul. A group of 13 North Koreans working at a restaurant in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China, was transported to Seoul by NIS agents just a few days before the 2016 parliamentary elections.
