Kim Yong-chol, North Korea’s vice chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea and director of the WPK United Front Department, arrived in Beijing on June 3 after his visit to the US, where he spoke with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and President Donald Trump, to whom he delivered a letter from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Kim Yong-chol is expected to stay at the North Korean embassy in Beijing for a day before returning to Pyongyang on June 4. Observers are guessing that Kim Yong-chol stopped in Beijing to meet with key Chinese counterparts and discuss the results of his talks with Pompeo and Trump.
