[Photo] Putin and Xi meet in Beijing ahead of Singapore summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin flew to Beijing on June 8 for to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, reportedly to discuss issues concerning the Korean Peninsula. The two leaders have showcased their relationship to demonstrate that there is an alternative hegemony to the one provided by the US, hence the timing of Putin’s visit, just days before the Singapore summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. China Central Television (CCTV) reported on June 8 that Xi and Putin had an “in-depth” discussion regarding denuclearization and the Korean Peninsula. (Kim Oi-hyun, Beijing correspondent)
