US President was the first to speak in exchange of amiable greetings
The beginning of the “talk of the century” began at 9 am sharp on June 12. The world is watching to see whether US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s handshake can thaw decades of hostility. Before going into their one-on-one meeting, the two leaders met for the first time on a podium that had been set up at the entrance to the hotel. As they shook hands, Trump said the first words of greeting. Trump was also the first to speak inside the meeting room. "I feel really great. We're going to have a great discussion and will be tremendously successful,” Trump said. “And it’s my honor. And we will have a terrific relationship, I have no doubt.” Kim responded with a nod and a big smile. “It wasn’t very easy to get here. We have sometimes been held back by mistakes and blinded and deafened by poor practices. But we’ve overcome all those things to make it here today,” he said. Trump agreed that this was the truth and extended his hand for a handshake. He also gave Kim a thumbs-up.
