As agreed upon by US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in their joint statement of the North Korea-US summit in Singapore, North Korea is expected to return the uncovered remains of fallen US soldiers as early as within the next few days. While the suspension of the Freedom Guardian joint military exercise can be seen as the first act of faith by the US following the summit, the return of the remains of US soldiers uncovered by North Korea can be seen as Kim Jong-un’s reciprocal gesture. North Korea is expected to return the remains of up to 200 US soldiers that have been uncovered throughout the past few years. The above photo depicts a ceremony marking the returns of US soldier remains in Apr. 2007, shortly after then New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson visited Pyongyang.
