The final event of the first round of the 21st family reunions for divided Korean families took place at the Mt. Kumgang meeting hall in North Korea. The above photos show a man wiping away the tears of his younger sister. Kim Byeong-o, 88, lives in South Korea, while his younger sister Kim Sun-ok, 81, lives in the North. They were separated during the Korean War while on their way to school. Byeong-o became a school principal while Sun-ok worked as a doctor. Although they promised to not cry at their moment of separation, when the time came to say goodbye, both of them burst into tears. As they parted, Sun-ok said, “I hope we can spend just one more day together after reunification.”
