[Photo] Pompeo taps Ford exec as special envoy to North Korea

During a press conference on Aug. 23, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that Steve Beguin (left), Vice President of International Affairs for Ford Motor Co., will be his special envoy to North Korea and will accompany Pompeo during his visit to Pyongyang next week. This will be Pompeo’s fourth visit to North Korea, and his upcoming visit is scheduled to last for a single day on Aug. 27. As the visit is scheduled to last one day, Pompeo is not likely to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Observers will be watching closely to see if any headway is made on the current deadlock in North Korea-US negotiations regarding denuclearization. (EPA/Yonhap News)
