North Korea sent a gift of two tons (2,000kg) of North Korean pine mushrooms after the conclusion of the inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang. North Korea has customarily offered pine mushrooms as gifts following inter-Korean summits. Pyongyang sent pine mushrooms to South Korea in both 2000 and 2007, following the visits of former Presidents Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun. This time around, the mushrooms are expected to be delivered to the South Korean members of divided families.

South Korea returned the favor with a gift of red ginseng.
