[Photo] Kim Jong-un devoted more focus to economy than military in 2018

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has devoted the majority of his interest in the economy throughout the past year. According to information released by the South Korean Unification Ministry’s data on Kim’s public activities, the North Korean leader made 98 public appearances in 2018, including 41 visits to manufacturing or production facilities related to the national economy. This means 41% percent of his public appearances were related to the economy as opposed to the military. In contrast, 44.7% percent of his public appearances in 2017 were related to the military, an affirming of the leader’s shift in focus from militaristic might to economic development.
