[Photo] Farmers to donate tractors to North Korean farmers for spring harvest

A collective of farmers and civic groups in North Chungcheong Province began their campaign to donate farming equipment to North Korean formers on Jan. 11. The collective is set to send three tractors to the North to help them with their spring harvests. The collective comprises 67 civic groups who hope to one day see a united Korea. The tractors are “an initial step toward an era where people, supplies and information can freely cross the border,” they announced. The tractors were purchased solely from donations from residents and farmers throughout the region as well as sales from rice. The photo shows farmers harvesting rice in North Chungcheong Province, on Oct. 31, the proceeds from which contributed to the purchase of the tractors.
