[Photo] N. Korean delegation to visit VinFast production plant

The North Korean delegation that is accompanying leader Kim Jong-un during his Hanoi summit are reported to have visited the production plant of VinFast, Vietnam’s first automaker, in the city of Hai Phong on Feb. 27, a Vietnamese government official informed the Hankyoreh. The visit is significant as VinFast symbolizes Vietnam’s economic development and provides a model for the evolution of Vietnamese companies from manufacturing parts to making complete products. Vingroup, the conglomerate that oversees Vinfast, started off in the early 1990s as a Vietnamese restaurant in Ukraine. The restaurant evolved into an instant noodles company and eventually became the multi-armed corporate entity it is today.
