A South Korean survey team set off for waters in a Han River estuary from Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, on Apr. 1. The survey marked the first time a civilian South Korean boat headed into the estuary in 66 years. This was the first of surveys agreed to in the Comprehensive Military Agreement signed by South and North Korea in September 2018. The team comprised nine fishing boats and one ferry, with the survey lasting around one hour and 20 minutes. (Kang Tae-ho, former director of the Hankyoreh Peace Research Institute)
