[Photo] Xi Jinping given warm welcome upon arrival in Pyongyang

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and the people of Pyongyang offered a warm welcome to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the first Chinese head of state to visit North Korea in 14 years. Upon Xi’s arrival at Pyongyang Sunan International Airport on June 20, Kim and Xi rode together in an open-top car in a motorcade that proceeded to the public square in front of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, where Pyongyang residents and a military band provided an enthusiastic and ceremonial welcome. Xi was then escorted to Rungrado 1st of May Stadium, where he viewed a mass gymnastics performance.
