While waiting for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s arrival at Panmunjom for an unexpected trilateral meeting, US President Donald Trump asked South Korean President Moon Jae-in if it’d be okay to cross the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) onto North Korean soil. The simple question led to Trump becoming the first sitting US president to step onto North Korean territory. Moon reportedly responded it’d be okay to cross the line while accompanied by Kim. A Blue House official commented that Trump apparently didn’t discuss the crossing with any of his White House aides, reflecting the spontaneity of the decision. (Blue House photo pool)
